G: When you first became a showgirl in Vegas, what was the change like for you ?
Kitty Foxx: Well, it was exciting and a little scary. A girlfriend of mine who was a showgirl introduced me to that. She had to go on vacation and said, 'Somebody's got to fill in for me, so let me show you the routine, and you can step in for me while I'm gone.' She said, 'Why don't you do it'' I was like, 'Noooo, me''' She said, 'Yeah, it's easy.' So one evening she showed it to me, and it was pretty simple, and I did it. One of the bars that my husband bought was a topless bar, so it was pretty easy to do there after being on stage at the hotel. Yeah, I try anything once. If I don't like it, I don't do it again. That's my theory.
G: How did your husband react at that point ?
Kitty Foxx: He said, 'Oh yeah, go for it!' He's really adventuresome, and we like to try new things all the time, so he thought it was great!
G: When you were approached to do your first nude photo layout, how did you react to that' How was the adjustment into that kind of work ?
Kitty Foxx: Well, that was a little scary, too. I didn't know how to pose, so I was asking the photographer what to do. He was very patient, and he told me every pose, and I did it. But he was such a nice guy, and my husband was there, so that was reassuring. After I found out what a nice guy Lance (the photographer) was, then it just didn't take long to be at ease. But my husband and I had been swingers, and we had the topless bar, so nudity didn't bother me at all, and other people around while I'm nude didn't bother me, so I just went with the flow. And you know, things just started progressing, and I just thought it was fun!
G: How was the adjustment into the first movie ? Was it a lot different than the first photo shoot ?
Kitty Foxx: Oh yeah, it's a lot different. (laughs) Yeah, really I had no aspirations of ever being a porn star or a model or anything, like I said I just went with the flow. We were at a swingers convention, this was after I'd been appearing in Over 40 magazine, and a movie producer was there and asked me if I ever wanted to be in a porn movie. I said , 'Sure, what's the pay' What do I do'' (Laughs) My husband and I have been swingers, and we started in that lifestyle back in the 70's, when you went to a party and jumped in a pile. And so I thought, 'Yeah, sure. Why not'' And there, again, he could be there in the background. I was nervous, because that was before the industry got so strict on the HIV test, so I was pretty leery. I wanted to know where these guys came from, who they were, make sure they were disease-free, and if we could use condoms. The majority of them were college students, so they just did that for fun to make a little extra money, and they were all nice guys, you know, no problems. It was a gang-bang movie, and everything worked out fine. The whole theme of that movie was that it was a class reunion and I was their teacher, so I was invited to this reunion, then I graded all the guys. (laughs) So that was fun, and it just progressed from there. Another producer would call me and say 'Hey, we have this movie we're doing. Would you like to be in it'' And so on and so forth. About that time they started requiring the HIV test, which I thought was fantastic, and now they've gone even farther and require the DNA HIV test every 28 days. You get to know the talent that's in the industry, and they have to show their papers at the beginning of each scene so everybody can see they're up-to-date with the testing. There's a few things you tell the producer you'll do and you won't do, and of course the list of don't do's is shorter than the ones that you do. So anyway, I don't know what my appeal is to the general public, I guess my videos must have sold well. I have a big fan club, I know that. (Laughs) So that's how I got started. I didn't really set out to do that, but it all kinda fell into place, and here I am. [...]
